  Statement of Purpose

The growing need to preserve and enhance the working heritage of all terriers, dachshunds and lurchers, regardless of breed or registry, shall be the prime dictate of this club. It is an organization of owners and breeders dedicated to the promotion, breeding and working of all terriers, dachshunds and lurchers in a democratic atmosphere of good sportsmanship, camaraderie and education.

EWU is a recognized UKC club, and we implement, for the benefit of UKC-registered earthworkers, the excellent UKC Earth Work Hunting Program. Dogs not registered with the UKC may participate in this program after obtaining Limited Privilege or Temporary Listings from the UKC. Please learn about the program by following the UKC PROGRAM link in the lefthand menu. All dogs,
regardless of breed or registry or non-registered status, shall be eligible to compete equally in additional EWU events for which that
breed is entitled through its heritage.

  • Conformation

  • Earthdog/Go-To-Ground

  • Trailing and Locating

  • Lure Coursing/Racing

  • Tracking

EWU events shall offer equal opportunity for National Titles and Certificates to any dogs registered with the UKC, the AKC,
the JRTCA and its affiliates, and with all other registries, as well as to unregistered dogs.
